Every Day in May - What do I do?

I'm skipping Muffin Monday today for "Blogging Every Day in May!"

So today's prompt is about what you do, outside of work.  How do I identify myself?

1) WRITING

Find this cool necklace here
Immediately the word WRITE came to mind.  I write all the time - letters to my pen pals, a monthly article for a local news magazine, in my thankful journal, in my blog here... I write.

Love this.  And it's true!  Find it here.
I do love writing letters and sending them by the snail mail route. Stamps and stickers, it's just awesome. Outdated but who doesn't love getting a personal letter in the mail? And through my pen pals, I've made great friends I really appreciate.

2) FAMILY

Family Love. Get it here.

I know, it's odd saying you "do family" but family is a huge part of my identity. Every morning, I start my day visiting my sweet niece and sister (and mom because she's picking Macy up to babysit for the day). Sundays are always family days.  And usually I see them several other times through the week.  Daddy still watches after me, helps me with things in the house.  Mom will stop and visit.  And my brother and sister-in-law will text/call/update on Facebook, so I'm always in touch with them, too.  Love family. I "do family" on a daily basis.

3)  TRY

Heck, let's try and see what happens here
I try.  I'm trying new things all the time lately.  I'm trying new projects. I'm trying my hand at sewing.  I've tried new recipes, cooking things I've never attempted before. I've tried new projects from Pintrest, I'm trying to improve myself and be a better person, I'm TRYING.

I don't always succeed. I've failed MANY times.  But that's ok, I'll try again and see if it works better with some tweaks. Or I'll toss it aside and try something else entirely.

I do have a long way to go with some of my personal goals. I'm not sure I'm trying as hard as I need to ... obviously ... hopefully I'll get motivated and make some changes there. :)

Every Day In May - Blog Love

Today is all about blogs that I love. I have a few. Not that I know these people, but I religiously read their blogs.

No. 1  Tiny Green Elephants. A family with one womb child and two heart children from Russia. I've never seen anyone so upbeat, positive and loving. I often end up in tears.

No. 2  Miss Copy Cat. She inspires me to be crafty and try new projects. Love her creativity! :)

No. 3  Sidewalk Shoes.  Pam is awesome. She declares herself a food blogger, but in reality she is an awesome photographer, cat lover, wine enjoyer, avid reader, and one heck of a chef.  I also follow her photography website, Sidewalk Shoes 365.

No. 4  Costal Charm.  Man, I'd love to have this sense of style in my house.  Love it!

I'm sure there are plenty others but I'm tired, running short on time in this day, and I'm typing on a phone. So I'll add the rest tomorrow! :)  (I did add a few - and fixed my link!)

Every Day In May - Fav Quote

Lets not discuss what kind of idiot I am for not realizing blogging every day in May was a link up with a guided prompt each day. Duh. How did I miss this? Whatever, I'll catch up next week on the topics I missed. :)

So today, now that I know, is your favorite quote. Please understand, I love quotes! Love love love them! I'm working on a Pressed Clovers book right now with quotes all through it!

But one of my favorites is from Eleanor Roosevelt.

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

This quote got me through my first real job when I really had no idea what I was doing. It was bad. But I survived and learned alot.

I really like many quotes from Eleanor Roosevelt... Google and you'll see why she is one of my favs.

Every Day in May - Shameless Promotion

In case you are kinda new here or somehow missed it, I have an Etsy store, called Pressed Clovers.  Just a small store that sells premade scrapbooks for people who want to have a treasured way to keep memories close at hand, but aren't into creating the scrapbooks from scratch. My books give you the handmade scrapbook look with your photos.

The Mom & Me or Grandmother Scrapbook can be found here
You know Mother's Day is coming up... and if your mom is one of those that has everything under the sun, this is a GREAT gift she doesn't have.  You can let her print out her favorite pictures or you go ahead and do it for her.  I include the double-sided stickies for your pictures to stick to the mats, so you don't have to go out and buy anything. You are ready for your pictures the minute the scrapbook arrives.

New Mom's would love a baby scrapbook! Find one here!
Know a new mama?  These baby books are awesome for capturing the first year when a baby grows so quickly! Just last night my dad was commenting on how this 10-month-old child, who is already 2 feet tall, was the tiny baby he was afraid to drop she was so small.  Savor those memories with a premade scrapbook!

I have several designs and am totally open to custom orders.  I'm currently wrapping up two custom orders this weekend.  After that, I plan on starting a beach/vacation book unless another custom order comes in.  So check it out and see what you think!

The last beach book I created went to a bride-to-be as a honeymoon book! :)

Friday's Letters

Dear Macy Mae, you are my sunshine every morning. I love visiting with you before work.  It's amazing to see how quickly you are learning and how smart you are!
Dear Spring, you have finally arrived!  I love driving to and from work and seeing green instead of dead brown. It makes the commute much more interesting. :)
Dear Sweet Frog owners, I wasn't kidding when I told you I was excited you were opening in my town. Hello, I was there on your FIRST DAY. I'm CRAZY with excitement! My wallet isn't, but I am.
Dear roses, what a treat to see you had bloomed when I wasn't watching you!  My first bloom of the season! I'm hoping for another lovely year of your beautiful flowers!
Dear Digital Scrapbook Papers, I'm learning how to best use you in my Pressed Clovers items. It's slowly occurring to me how cool you could be!
Dear weekend, for whatever reason, you are calling for rain rain and more rain.  I'd appreciate it if you'd make it rain at night or sometime I'm not out in it, please.  Many thanks!
How cute are these goulashes Thank You notes?  Find them here

Ok folks, I'm off to wrap up my work and head home for the night. I'm so looking forward to kicking up my feet and half dozing on the couch while Muffin snores in the room beside me. Ya'll have a great weekend. :)

Every Day in May - Pintrest Projects

I love this. Now, let me just say I'm not positive this is actually salt dough, but according to Pintrest, it is a simple salt dough with metallic paint.  Which must be cheaper than the silver one I had priced out at over $45. And I like this better because it's simple.

So according to Pintrest, here is a salt dough recipe:

2 c flour
1 cup salt
cold water

mix until play dough consistency.  Make your shape and then bake at 250 for 2 hours.
Spray paint when you are done.

The more I look at this the less I believe it's salt dough. How did they get the ring for the cord to go through in the back?? Hmm... Whatever, I may try it. If I do, you'll know about it.

I have bought some air dry clay to try and make ornaments for Macy's first birthday giveaways.  I want bunnies, with some kind of texture... I'd love to stamp the children's names across the belly to make it personalized.  It's a project that MAY happen this weekend. Then again, I MAY clean my house!

And thankfully, I have the supplies I need to get cracking on these two custom scrapbooks ordered from my Etsy store, Pressed Clovers. I'm excited. :)

Gosh, that bunny up there is cute! And this lady doesn't have them on her Etsy anymore! But they are adorable.  Found it on Pintrest, of course (and don't you hate it when the link doesn't work or the item is gone!? ARGH!).  She does have this, however, which is super cute.

Super cute canvas can be found here!
I think I'd go beyond a simple "super cute" and call it "super duper cute!"  She must be crazy crafty and talented.  Lucky her!

Anyway, ya'll wish me luck on the bunny ornaments and I'll see you here tomorrow!

Every Day in May

Can I seriously blog every stinkin' day in the month of May? and do I really want to? Hm... well, I'm going to try.  I don't know what I'll talk about every day, but join me for the ride and let's see what happens.

I had this really good chat with my brother today.  He's older by four years, been married 9 years in June and he's typically very funny. It's rare you'll get him serious. Not sure how we started talking about the fact that I'm single, but he said this - he couldn't imagine his life without his wife. Not that she's perfect or he's perfect, not that they don't have things they fight about or whatever, but that together they are it. And I totally agree, together they are one unit in life. And he said he really wanted that for me, too.

*sigh*

I do, too.  (He cracked me up when he said - something better than the last two I had in my life. HAHAHA! Ok, I totally agree!) I'm old ya'll, I'll be 38 this year and I get so sick of the "if-she-isn't-married-by-now-there-must-be-something-wrong-with-her" joke (I guess it would be better if I were divorced??). I don't want to date random guys and go through the whole let's-get-to-know-you routine. I don't want a honeymoon stage that leads to daydreams only to be let down after 3-6 months.

What do I want? Heck, I don't really know that. I guess I'm better at saying what I don't want. HA! But I really don't want to make a mistake.

Seriously, I'll let you in on a secret. While I love seeing all of you in the big puffy wedding gowns for your profile pics, and while I love seeing everyone's tummies growing with their children, sometimes it makes me sad. I know your life isn't perfect. But it's the path I thought I would be taking only to find out that wasn't the plan for me.

Many a person has told me they envy what I have in being single and on my own. I have a good life. I like my freedom.  Not sure how I'd take having to give it up one day and accommodate someone else's feelings, needs, wants, etc. because I'm kinda used to doing whatever I want to do without consulting anyone else. But maybe one day someone will change that... Guess I'll just have to wait and see what God has in store for me.
