My Pot is Full & Boiling Over

*sigh*  Well, I know I've been given talents and skills - but I'm not sure anything dealing with the kitchen is included in my skill set.  Seriously, I never read the recipe quite right or I get distracted or I don't have the background knowledge to do something correctly but I try it anyway and THIS is what happens.  My stove SHOULD be black.  Not black with white rings.

I will give myself credit, though because I'll try it, even if I don't have a clue how to do it.  Like for Macy's baptism, I made a cake. Heaven help, it was a bit beyond my experience but I did it and holy cow, Batman, it was out-of-sight tasty.  Three white cake layers with strawberry curd between and strawberry icing that was oh-so-good. All from scratch.  My sister-in-law is wanting me to do it for her birthday this year - the highest of compliments!

In these pictures, I was determined to make soft pretzel bites from scratch for the Superbowl. Like, nothing was going to stop me from this. Not even totally misreading the recipe and throwing out the first batch of batter (4+ cups of flour, sugar, salt, yeast... TOSS into the TRASH!).  Nope, I started over and read closer.  I forget to set the timer on letting it rise, but whatever. Moving forward. It was the baking soda/boiling water that overflowed ALL over my stovetop that created this mess. *sigh*

But look! Tasty pretzel bites! Everyone loved them, they were super yummy!  Add a touch of mustard and they were lip-smacking good. Not sure they tasted different enough from what you can just go buy to make it worth this trouble, but I'm glad I tried it.  Why not?  It's always an adventure when I get in the kitchen. If nothing else, it can show you how awesome your skills are compared to this! HAHA!

  1. You did great!!! The kitchen can be sweet at times but she can also be a mean sucker!!

I love to cook and bake...but I would be willing to trade a little for maybe a different skill!! (if only it worked that way)
