Life's a Beach.

A few weeks ago, my coworker's hubby was unexpectedly hospitalized for a week.  He was supposed to go to the beach, but obviously he missed that trip.  We felt really bad for him and knew he needed our special brand of cheer.  Therefore, brought the beach to him. :)

We picked up one of those folding display boards from the Wally World, used the scene setter door covers from the dollar store and lots of rubber cement to make it beachy.  Cotton balls for clouds, a fire truck (he was going to a fire convention at the beach), a hot babe in the truck, birds - we made it as close to paradise on paper as possible.  The tray contains actual sand, shells, margarita glass, shades and the beach ball and sand bucket completed the decorations.

Oh yes.  We asked his wife to wear a bikini to take it over the top, but she refused. Darn.

We had this huge scene setter left over and so we decorated our office with it.  Yes, this is what I'm looking at these days.  You get used to it but I'm sure the people who come into our office are baffled. I mean, it's huge flamingos. Well over six feet tall.

I kinda expected them to be gone when I got back from my vacation, but nope, it's still there. I think we all are still in need of a vacay. So maybe this is what I'll day dream about today...

And I wonder when it will be taken down?

Muffin Monday - Guest!

I know, this isn't a cat at all! It's BIRDS! This is what I look at out my back window as I work on scrapbooks and such.  Muffin is usually on the bed, watching out the window with me. :)  It's so peaceful as they fly about, nibbling on the birdseed.  The bottom picture, do you see the bird coming in for a landing? They were really nice and restful to watch.

I needed restful.  Seems that the picture I linked to in my Friday's Letter post (pic of Ja'Brie) was replaced some time over the weekend with a large photo of an oiled up booty stuffed into a small thong.  I about choked when I saw it because there was nothing I could do about it at home. No internet access. SSSSoooooo.... I was literally stuck with this booty decorating my page.  Guess that's what I get for linking instead of uploading. Granted, if  my booty was as nice as that one, I might be tempted to oil it up, stuff it in a thong and take pictures of it (and you believe that, right?).

Anyway, ya'll have a great week, and I'll see you back here one day this week!

so...yeah. that.

Heck if I know what's twirling around in my mind. I feel like I've neglected the blog this week simply because of my schedule. And probably the lack of sleep factors into that, too.  My sleep has been interrupted by crazy dreams... one involved those huge lizards, Komodo Dragons?

Yes, these suckers.  Isn't the thought of that enough to give anyone nightmares? Although how they appeared in my dreams, I have no idea. It's not like I've ever seen one in person. But it still makes for an unsettling sleep.

So this week has passed in a blur. I feel a bit out-of-place or like I forgot to do something or I'm missing something.  Do you ever feel like that? For example, in one morning, I forgot to disarm the alarm before walking out the front door. I NEVER DO THAT. Then I fumbled for my key fob and turned it off. Rearmed. Then forgot to lock the front door. I NEVER DO THAT EITHER. I was half way down the road when I started thinking about it, turned around and went back to discover that yes indeed, my door was unlocked.

Do you remember that someone tried to kick in my doors? So yeah, I don't forget things like that.

So what's wrong with me? Am I just losing my mind or what? Who knows, but something's got to give because I really need my brain engaged.

Despite all of these bizarre feelings of not being in sync with myself, I'm actually excited about wrapping up this election (which is still 1.5 months away) and moving along with Pressed Clovers! I really can't dedicate the time to it right at this moment, but there will be a time that I can and I'm looking forward to engaging the creative side of my brain for some fun stuff with paper.  I've considered instead of everything having to be an entire complete scrapbook, to sell individual pages for sale. Hmm... any thoughts on that? Just an idea.

But for now, it's 10 p.m., I'm still sitting in my office at work and I need to go home. Already Donna has called to see if I'm on my way or if the office boogie man snatched me up.  It's time. (But inside, I'm still having a little Pressed Clover party...) Sweet dreams, my imaginary friends! Don't let the bed bugs bite!

Wonder about my week?

Well, let me share with you...

Sunday: miss church due to sinus infection. Want soup. Dumped the cold soup into my blender to chop up the onions a bit better... And had a little issue...see picture below. That was lovely fun to clean up.

Monday: work partial day. Sister had Monday off and we go to lunch. I have called around until I find a place with veggie beef soup. I know, it's just me, but I would think a key ingredient in veggie beef soup would be beef, not pork. Not amused and not eating the slop presented. See photo below.

Tuesday: work partial day. My wonderful co-worker takes pity on me and brings me homemade veggie beef soup...enough for days! Love it love it love it!

Wednesday: work full day. Eat yummy soup!

Thursday: work full day and eat yummy soup!

Friday: took today off. Heading to lunch with friends and back home because this evilness doesn't seem to be responding to meds. (only to soup...ha ha!)  Drinking hot apple juice from my cat mug will hopefully make me feel better.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and stay well!

Wowzers, what an ending.

I was reading Susan Branch's blog where she talks about how she LOVES the week between Christmas and New Year's because there is nothing to do but relax and enjoy.

WHATEVER.

It has been a full-blown madhouse in my office.  The stress level is rocketing off the rafters, added to an attempt to create decorations for my mom's 60th birthday party.  Which is my own fault because I have the grand ideas and high expectations, only to fall short and become disappointed in myself. (insert your own image of a sad face here).

I do have pictures of Christmas. I promise, I do. I haven't seen them myself, but they will arrive and I will torture you with them shortly.

I did have a wonderful Christmas, starting with a huge family breakfast that rolled right into piles of presents and lots of laughter and paper ball fights. This was followed by some rest before starting all over when AH arrived at the house. (insert the biggest happy-face smile you can think of here)!

As for New Year's, we'll be celebrating my Mom.  An amazing wonderful woman who still has "it."  She is so pretty, so funny, creative, and a great mom-figure. Most people I know learn to appreciate the mom-ness of my mother.  Not a frumpy mom-ness, but a person who remembers to send cards, to say thank you, to let you know she's thinking of you ... a supportive mom. :)

Anyway, I will provide you with more entertainment in 2012, I hope.  I haven't tired of this yet. Just need to wrangle life back into order so I can come back here and enjoy your company some more. If I don't post before Saturday - ya'll have a GREAT NEW YEAR and I'll see you in 2012!

Whirlwind Weeks...

This has been one of those wild whirlwind weeks that keeps your head spinning, that's for sure!  Mon - training on the western part of the state and date night with Gary, Tuesday a 15 hour work day that started at 6 a.m.and didn't end until about 9 p.m., Wednesday training in the center of the state (totally unrelated to Monday's training!) and painting pottery with Ellie after the class... I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend!

When life gets hectic like this, it seems like nothing is in focus, the world is quickly spinning out of my hands and I can't quite grab on to anything to help steady it.  Not that any of the above were bad things, just left me with little time to myself to just process my day... or days. When I took this picture, trying to capture the colors of the fading sunset, I ended up with this and thought it was very appropriate to life!  I have no idea why the lights made those crazy lines, but I liked it. Adds to the crazy atmosphere.

And the fog in this picture... heaven help I know that feeling, too. Like this weighty mass is hoovering just above my head, obscuring the sunlight and the good and beautiful blessings that are heaped upon me everyday! The dense fog just clouds them over so my eyes can't see them. (But the fog still makes for a pretty picture!)

But never fear, Ellie is here!! :)  Her perky little self can cheer up anything. Here she is after painting pottery, showing off her dirty fingers.  This child does not like having dirty fingers and is not a happy camper until she's clean again.  So cute - we were sitting at dinner and out of the blue she says, "Someone sent me a Hello Kitty card!" and then pointed to me. Sweet? Adorably sweet!

Tomorrow I'll have a cute crafty picture for you - a autumnal fun project that you can easily try at home! :)
